Description Fama Helicopters was founded in 2009 and is based in Italy. The KISS 209M was developed by Nino Famà (who had a career in the motor racing industry) as a consequence of the never-ending search for the most economical ultralight helicopter. The aircraft makes use of the latest possible technology in the fields of electronics, fuselage design and engines. As the helicopter's model name tells us, Fama claims that his design also excels when it comes to simplicity as he applied the well known KISS (“Keep it simple, stupid”) engineering principle during the design phase. Remarkable is the retractable landing gear, which is unique in this class of experimental kit helicopters.

The helicopter is 95% produced and assembled by Fama Helicopters. This is an important cornerstone in the company’s strategy of keeping the price low without compromising quality control.

The two-seater KISS 209M has strong performance specifications with its three hour flight time and plenty of room for luggage.

Yes ... isn't it about time an enterprising UK aviation company took up the sales possibilities offered by the FAMA 209.

We all know the UK CAA will not want to certify a kit sold helicopter. I was in South Africa a while back and it should be known that the FAMA IS being used for public Transport flying training. Someone with sense has arranged for the type to be imported ex-Italy and assembled by a leading maintenance organisation and for the present MUST be subsequently maintained by them. What a great idea that would see a small revitalisation of the training market here in the UK.  Turbine fuel at a quarter of Avgas. I'm guessing the type could be hired out in the £200 per hour area.

Anyway may the force be with Senor Nino Fama and allow his creation to sell in volume.   DRK in England.

Dennis have you flown it ?
The retractable LG seems a complication not required
As you have much more understanding of CAA if it was a built unit imported finished unit would this make it an (easier) import.
Never understood the Euro regs regarding mainland & UK.
Why when we leave Europe will aircraft suddenly become dangerous
