1907 First Flying Vertical Flight Machine (Brequet brothers)

This machine, built by the Brequet Brothers, was the first to lift a few feet off the ground. It used an internal combustion engine, and was able to hover. It did not have any controls and was highly unstable. It could only hover with the assistance of men who held it in place.
